- What is an IP address? How does it work?
A numerical tag attached to each computer used to identify it. The IPV4 address address used to be the standard for computer indetification, but because of the explosive proliferation of the computer devices, people are now transistioning to IPV6 addresses, which allow for exponentially more IP addresses because of the additional identifying characters.
- What is a domain name? How does it relate to the IP address?
A domain name identifies a website and denotes its function, or the entity that creates the website. For example, the .com, or .gov section of a domain name indicates that a company, or the government, is the proprietor of the site, respectively. A domain name is essentially to a website what an IP address is to a computer.
- What does HTML stand for?
HyperText Markup Laguage, which is the language that forms the backbone of a website.
- What is the default page named in a website (e.g. the home page)?
